Tips for Sparkling Windows

At Justice Homes, we put a lot of thought into where we build our homes and communities. We take extra care to create communities that are both convenient and beautiful. If you want to be able to see all the beauty of the community outside your windows, you’ll need them to be streak free. Which is why we want to share some tips with you on how to achieve streak free windows.

Choose the Right Tools

To start off, you’ll need to gather the necessary tools before starting. You'll need a squeegee, a microfiber cloth or lint-free paper towels, a bucket of warm water, and a window cleaning solution.

Clean on a Cloudy Day

Next, check the weather. Try to clean your windows on a cloudy day or when the sun is not directly shining on them. Direct sunlight can cause the cleaning solution to dry quickly, leading to streaks.

Remove Dust and Debris

Before applying any cleaning solution, use a soft brush or a microfiber cloth to remove dust, cobwebs, and loose debris from the window surfaces, frames, and sills.

Make Your Own Cleaning Solution

For a homemade window cleaning solution, you can mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Alternatively, you can use a commercial glass cleaner, making sure it's streak-free and ammonia-free.

Spray and Wipe

Spray the cleaning solution on the window surface, covering it evenly. Avoid overspraying onto the frames or sills. Use a squeegee to remove the cleaning solution from the glass, starting from the top and working your way down in vertical or horizontal strokes.

Dry with a Microfiber Cloth

After using the squeegee, wipe the edges and any remaining moisture with a clean, lint-free microfiber cloth or paper towels. Start from the top and work your way down, ensuring you dry the entire window surface.

Change Cleaning Cloths When Needed

If your cloth or towel becomes too damp or dirty, switch to a fresh one. Using a soiled cloth can transfer dirt and grime back onto the glass, causing streaks.

Use Vertical and Horizontal Strokes

When wiping the window with a cloth or towel, alternate between vertical and horizontal strokes to ensure complete coverage and to catch any streaks that may be left behind.

Clean Both Sides

Don't forget to clean both the inside and outside of your windows for a consistent streak-free result.

By following these tips and techniques, you should be able to achieve streak-free windows and enjoy clear, sparkling views!
