Semi Annual Home Safety Check

SEMI ANNUAL HOME SAFETY CHECK

It's crazy to think that we are already HALFWAY through the year! And what a CRAZY year it has been.

Time may fly by without notice but wear and tear around your home shouldn't! Here are some things around your home you should be checking.

MONTHLY

Inspect, clean and replace HVAC filters.

Clean all sink disposals and clean unwanted hair out of drains.

Clean your stove's range hood filters. You would be amazed at the difference a new filter can make!

Check your fire extinguishers and make sure you know how to properly use them!

QUARTERLY

Test smoke/carbon dioxide detectors. They should have a "test" button and take less than a minute to check! Make sure there is no corrosion around or on the battery itself.

Run water in sinks that you may not use often to prevent grime and buildup. (Think garage or basement sinks)

Check water softener and add salt if needed.

BIANNUALLY

Test your water heater's pressure relief valve - it safeguards against leaks and helps your heater run more efficiently.

Deep clean your home. Clean all the nooks, crannies, windows and rooms.

Replace all batteries in your smoke/carbon dioxide detectors. This is something that doesn't need to be done, but I would personally be more safe than sorry.

Vacuum your coils on the back of your refrigerator. Rumor is, you can save around $100 a year on your bills by doing this! Who doesn't love to save money?
