Sounds You Should Never Ignore
Houses make all sorts of little noises on a daily basis. From floorboards creaking to appliances beeping. Most of the time, these little noises do not mean anything and so we just ignore them and carry on. But there are occasions when strange noises shouldn’t be shrugged off. Some noises can alert you to a problem and we want to share which ones to listen out for.
Hissing
Oftentimes gas leaks have a certain odor, but there are times when you may not notice the smell. If you’re ever walking near your gas meter and hear hissing, that’s a good indicator that you have a gas leak. Make sure to get your and your family away from the area immediately and call for professional help.
Running Water
Water can cause extensive damage quickly. That’s why if you hear running water when no one else in the house is using it, you better act fast. Make sure to shut off the water supply and then locate the problem area. Hopefully, you can solve the problem on your own. YouTube is a great resource for how-to guides if you don’t exactly know what you’re doing.
Scratching
Some noises can have you second guessing yourself. Did you really hear something? That is often the case when you seem to hear scratching behind your walls. If you think you heard scratching, it would be wise to take a look in your attic, basement, and crawl spaces for animals. If left to cohabitate with you, rodents and birds can quickly do damage by building nests and chewing on wires and other essential parts of your home. If you suspect that you have an uninvited guest, be sure to call animal control as soon as possible.
At Justice Homes, we want you to feel comfortable and safe in your home. Hopefully, now you can have a little peace of mind knowing what sounds to listen for. Any other noises can just add to the charm of your home.
